A new generation of intelligent maritime domain awareness
SRT builds the technology that lets a country see what is happening in its own waters. Its systems track and identify vessels across a national maritime domain, and are used by coast guards, navies, border agencies, fisheries authorities and port operators to address smuggling, illegal fishing, border control, environmental protection and navigation safety.
The business has two distinct sides. MDA Systems covers large integrated surveillance and intelligence systems delivered to national agencies — maritime surveillance and command and control for coast guards, fisheries monitoring and management systems, national vessel registration and tracking, and vessel traffic systems for ports and waterways. These are long-cycle, government-scale projects.
The transceiver business is different in character: AIS and VHF navigation and communication hardware, sold as modules to OEM marine electronics manufacturers, as certified aids-to-navigation transceivers for ports and offshore infrastructure including wind farms, and through dealers and distributors to leisure and commercial vessel owners under the em-trak brand.
The two connect. The transceivers generate the vessel data that the surveillance systems interpret, and the same core technology underpins both. SRT has been developing maritime technology since 1987, is based at Midsomer Norton near Bath, and operates internationally.
