Speedy Hire Plc

The Cavendish View
Speedy Hire (Buy) is one of the UK's largest providers of equipment hire and support services to construction, infrastructure and industrial customers. Meeting management would provide the opportunity to assess how contract wins, market share gains and service-led growth are translating into improved financial performance despite challenging market conditions.

Research Director
Speedy Hire are the UK's leading tool hire provider.
Speedy Hire rents out the equipment that construction, infrastructure and industrial projects run on: small tools, powered access, lifting and survey kit, welding, power and battery storage, and plant machinery. Customers reach it through a national network of service centres, through depots embedded on their own sites, and increasingly through digital ordering and supplier partnerships — a model that lets the Group serve a multi-year framework contract for a water utility and a local trade customer hiring a breaker for the weekend from the same fleet.
Alongside hire, Speedy runs a services arm covering the rehire of specialist equipment through supplier partnerships, fuel and energy management, training, and the testing, inspection and certification work carried out by its Lloyds British business.
The Group operates from 128 service centres and on-site locations across the UK and Ireland, employs around 3,300 people, and holds a joint venture in Kazakhstan. Founded in 1977 and listed on the London Stock Exchange, it has shifted its customer mix towards national accounts and long-term frameworks in infrastructure, energy, rail, water and regulated utilities. In November 2025 it completed a commercial agreement with ProService, taking a right of first refusal to supply core hire equipment and certification services, alongside a 9.99% shareholding in ProService plc.
The Group is now in the delivery phase of Velocity, its five-year strategy running to March 2028. Around two-thirds of hire fleet investment in the year went into carbon-efficient eco products.
